1. __Discuss Information to put in the Fall 2006 Schedule of Classes
see http://missiononline.pbwiki.com

DDL decided to add a list of all of the Fall Online classes to the online information page in the Fall 2006 catalogue. Since David does not have a complete list of all of the online classes, a link will be provided for the students - http://lamission.edu/online, and Juan Chacon will be contacted and asked if he will put up all of the online/internet and hybrid classes on that page for easy access, along with the email addresses of all online instructors - again for ease of access. Many problems occur at the beginning of each semester when students do not know how to contact their online instructors. Admissions and Counselors should be advised that students should go to http://lamission.edu/online to get the necessary information, webpages, portals, and email addresses for their online classes.

Paul McKenna suggested that Nery be requested to put a listing for "online classes" under the index of the Fall 2006 class schedules - for ease of access for our online students.

2. Report on etudes NG "Train the Trainer" at City College on 5-15 to 5-18

Hanh has approved to have Eric Rettke attend the training. Both he and Juan will train faculty over the summer in Etudes NG. David and Paul will also attend the training, and work to develop the training certification process along with Vivian and other LACCD District Colleges who attend this training at City.

3. Revising the steps in "Application to Teach Online" to add a step to first contact your Dept. Chair and get approval to teach the class

DDL discussed at length the Application, and decided to work on it further over the summer. The first step of the application should be that the interested faculty and Department Chair first consult on the offering of the class online. The form then should have a sign off of the Department Chair, and Vice Chair, and then the DDL is informed the class will be taught for the first time online. Said suggested that DDL develop criteria over the summer for both reviewing the online curriculum and hybrid, and set up a process for that evaluation which inlcude Curriculum and DDL reviewing the course outline of record and the materials uploaded online both before and during the face to face review with the Department Chair and online faculty.

4. Discuss Certification of Sociology online instructor for Summer Session - B (teaches ITV class) - does she need to get certified?

DDL decided to draft a letter and email from Said and David to Jill Biondi and Myriam Mekelburg - her Vice Chair, requesting any certification for teaching with Blackboard, and if no certification to obtain formal training from @One before the summer sesssion B starts, and if not practical, then a one time exception will be granted by DDL. Also Jill needs to provide access to her Blacboard classroom to Said and David for review of the online curriculum, and certification will be reviewed also in person with Jill and Myriam prior to Summer Session B.

Discussion of Certification of Jill Pfeifer - to teach Anthropology - for ITV for session A on June 12 -

Paul indicated that Jill had used etudes to teach so certification to teach in etudes is not required. However David and Said will send a letter and email to Jill Pfeifer and Paul about the certification review, similar to Jill Biondi above, and that review should occur before June 12th.

5. Report on Certification of Chicano Studies instructor for Chicano 47 Class for Summer Session - A.

David discussed the details surrounding training and certification for Chicano 47 to be taught as a hybrid class. Harlan Goldberg the Department Chair notified the Council of Instruction on Thursday, 4-27-06 that the class would revert back to its original on campus only form, and that the Chicano 47 Class would not be a hybrid class. Said suggested that the DDL work over the summer to develop objective criteria in determining the evaluation process of hybrid classes from a curriculum viewpoint.
